British elected official in trouble for blatantly xenophobic post

Mike Kusneraitis is a member of Rummeymade Borough Council in Surrey, England.  What brings him to today’s blog entry, you ask? Well, Facebook posts like this:

STIAN_TORY COUNCILLOR SHAME_IMAGE001\n\nA TORY councillor is being investigated by council chiefs after sharing photo of a boat full of 14 naked women with a caption reading 'If Carlsberg did illegal immigrants'.\nMike Kusneraitis, a Conservative councillor on the Tory-run Runneymede Borough Council in Surrey, said he should be judged on his actions in the community, not by 'misjudged postings on social media'.\nThe councillor admitted making a number of 'offensive' postings on a Facebook page, which have now been removed.\nAmong the postings included a dog with a towel on his head and a sexually explicit cartoon, both posted on the Facebook page of the Peoples Front of Egham, which is currently unavailable.\nHe also posted an image on July 24 showing a boat full of 14 naked women, with a caption reading 'If Carlsberg did illegal immigrants'.\nWriting on his own Facebook page at the weekend, Cllr Kusneraitis, of Egham, Surrey, apologised if he offended anyone.\n\nImage shared by Mike Kusneraitis\n\nSTIAN ALEXANDER 07528 679198\n

This is one of several racist and sexist Facebook posts that Kusneraitis made on Facebook; according to media reports, he also uploaded pictures of a dog with a towel on its head (gee, I wonder what he was implying there) and “sexually explicit cartoons.”  The posts, which were uploaded to a Facebook page called “Peoples Front of Eglam,” have since been deleted, and the group is no longer visible.

To his credit, Kusneraitis released a pretty comprehensive apology statement (save for the fact that he is apologizing only to people who he offended, my personal apology pet peeve):

That being said, the apology may not be enough to keep Kusneraitis out of trouble.  Kusneraitis, who is a member of the Tory party, is now under investigation from local party officials.

The lesson, here, is too obvious for me to need to type anything else.
