Trump staffer retweets implied threat against Megyn Kelly

The aftermath of the first Republican Presidential debate has seen Donald Trump at his misogynistic worst.  First, he implied that moderator and Fox News host Megyn Kelly was hard on him during the debate because she was menstruating.  Using his Twitter account, Trump tweeted and retweeted a series of attacks on Kelly:

Again, this is all, more or less, standard fare for Trump.  What was out of the norm, however, was this retweet from Michael Cohen, an Executive VP for the Trump Organization and special council to Trump:

#boycottmegynkelly @realDonaldTrump we can gut her.

“Gut her”?  Really?  That seemed like a good idea?

The retweet was deleted (smart), but Cohen didn’t apologize, saying, in a statement:

“It is interesting to note that the only attacks against Mr. Trump last night came from the moderators. It appeared to all viewers that it was a coordinated effort. Megyn Kelly clearly tried the hardest and failed as Mr. Trump has been deemed the winner of last night’s debate by multiple polls and media outlets.I didn’t and don’t believe that the tweet implied physical violence against Ms. Kelly. I do not condone violence against anyone, male or female.”

I can see the political strategy of Trump and his ilk: Be as brash, crude, “unpolitically correct” as possible in an effort to tap into the obvious anger in the Republican party right now.  That being said, at some point, this catches up to you.  You cannot indefinitely attack women – and have top deputies imply violence against them – and expect to get away with it forever.  At some point, from a purely political perspective, these attacks will catch up with Trump.

Anyone else think I should start my own Donald Trump fail blog?
